The Egg Fund began during the Covid lockdown to make the most of Linwood residency's outdoor area. In winter 2021, Linwood got its first three baby chicks and built a chicken coop and run. This provided eggs for Linwood residents but not for the wider community.
In 2023, the initiative expanded to Home Afarm, an 11-acre camping farm in Seaman, Ohio, owned by Basil. Another dozen chickens were acquired, and proceeds from their eggs now support our Hardship Assistance program. Unsold eggs not needed by the residents are taken to Food Not Bombs when available.
